The TV-bot is based on our MMP-100 tracked
platform. There is a 4-axis arm mounted to the platform with turret
rotate, shoulder, elbow and wrist movements. These joints have feedback
loop control so the machine can be puppeteered with a good amount of finesse. |
 |
There is a 15" LCD monitor mounted on
the end of the arm to act as a face for the robot. This allows a persons
face to be displayed from a remote location while they interact with a
crowd.
|
 |
For a Bot Bash by the Sea we wired the
event announcer with a small wearable camera that focused on his face.
Then, the video of his face was transmitted to the LCD monitor as the
robot roamed around and interacted with the crowd. |
 |
Other types of live video feeds can also be
run on the face for promotional purposes. This display was set up at the
Peterson Automotive Museum in L.A. where Steel Conflict held a combat
robot competition. The monitor is showing continuous footage from
previous competitions. |
